Antique Crystal with Sterling Silver Overlay, Gold Overlay or Etching
In the early to mid 1900's, crystal with sterling silver overlay began appearing in high-society homes. It was innovative, trendy and elegant, and no sophisticated household was without a few exquisite pieces.
We are proud to announce that we have over 2,000 pieces in our collection. As many pieces are one-of-a-kind, it is not always possible to buy more than one of the same piece. However, we do have duplicates of the more common designs, as well as matching sets.
The intricate sterling silver overlay is paper thin. Many pieces are coated to prevent tarnish and are quite easy to clean with simple silver polish.
If you'll look closely, you'll notice that some of these designs aren't silver overlay, rather, the designs are etched into the crystal.
Due to the rare nature of these hand-finished vintage pieces, it is common for them to have bubbles in the crystal, or for some of the silver overlay to be missing. We strive to have only the most perfect pieces in our collection, but if there is a small imperfection, it will be fully disclosed in the description.
